reflected in our social status- one holds in society based on prestige.
-such as occupation, wealth, education, family background.
-stratified societies---hierarchical social structure

-divided into social classes - 1) rigid social class system - no social mobility-thus no opportunity to change the status, 2)social mobility- change through marriage, education, talent,skill,intelligence and hard work.(globalization-increased opportunity)
  • more power -higher status- ability to influence
  • concepts of social status- honour, prestige, religion
  • social class-economic-income, education, occupational prestige.
  • party class- political affiliation.
